VE Day Celebrations 2025!

On the 8th May 2025, the World Affairs faculty organised a series of events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe in WW2.

Lots of students and staff came dressed in period clothing, and during form time, classes had a mini history lesson about the anniversary. This all culminated in our VE Tea Party, attended by students from across KS3 and KS4. Students all enjoyed celebration cakes, drinks and sweet treats before participating in a pop up museum workshop.

Attendees had the chance to handle shell casings, wear a helmet, use a typewriter and read letters from evacuees, all soundtracked with classic 1940s music!

The event was topped off with a special Cornet performance by Year 8 student Athol Parker of Vera Lynn’s We’ll Meet Again. The afternoon was enjoyed by all and will be the first of many Time Travel Tea Parties at High Tunstall.

Thanks to all staff and students for making it possible.
