Ninth Annual STEM Lecture!
On Wednesday 12th November, we were thrilled to welcome Georgie Barrat to High Tunstall College of Science for our Ninth Annual STEM Lecture!

Georgie, best known as a presenter on The Gadget Show, inspired students with her passion for technology, innovation and the endless possibilities within STEM. Over 200 pupils from our Partner Primary Schools arrived for the first activity of the day, the Primary Workshop. Students explored different ideas within the world of technology, coming up with new ideas for future inventions and career paths. It was fantastic to see so many young minds engaged, curious and ready to explore the world of science and technology.
Two inspiring lectures were delivered by Georgie to our Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, sparking curiosity and brilliant questions about careers in tech, innovation and the future of STEM. After the lecture, Georgie was presented with a commemorative plaque by our Head Boy, Travis Jobling, and Head Girl, Harriet Skinner. This was a lovely moment that recognised her as our Ninth Annual STEM Guest and the impact she’s already had on our students.
We were also thrilled to introduce Georgie to Mithura Pathmaselvan, the very first recipient of the Georgie Barrat Award. This is an award we will be presenting in her name at the upcoming Annual Awards Evening. The Award celebrates a female student who is fearless about the future, embraces innovation, uses digital tools with confidence, and inspires others by showing that STEM is a space for everyone.

The day was a huge success and inspiring to all.
