Admission Arrangements 2027-2028 Consultation Notice

In accordance with the DfE’s statutory ‘School Admissions Code’ guidance, admission authorities must consult on admission arrangements when changes are proposed, and at least once every seven years even if no changes are proposed.

We would like to notify you that we are proposing some changes to our Admissions Policy.  As such, we are launching a consultation on our school’s admissions arrangements, and we would love to hear if you have any views or concerns about the proposed changes.

To this end, the following amendments to our admissions arrangements have been proposed that in the event of the College being oversubscribed for the 2027/28 intake the priority criteria for admission have been amended for:

  • Criteria 3 Partner Primary Schools reinforced by the removal of priority 3 for those children who do not attend a partner primary school but live within the admission zone of that primary school.

You can view the Admissions Policy 2027-28 Consultation Document here. The amendments have been highlighted in section 3.0 of the consultation document, and a copy of the current arrangements (2025-26 and 2026-27) can be viewed here.

In line with the ‘School Admissions Code’, this consultation will run for over six (6) weeks, from Monday 13th October 2025 to Friday 12th December 2025 inclusive. Any comments on the consultation should be submitted in writing no later than close of business on Monday 15th December 2025 to: Mr. Mark Tilling – Headteacher.

You can request and pick up a hard copy from the High Tunstall College of Science Administration Office at Elwick Road, West Park, Hartlepool, TS26 0LQ.

We are committed to ensuring our admissions arrangements continue to be open and fair, and we welcome your input as a valued member of our community.

A review of all comments received will be carried out to determine the outcome of the consultation. The final admission arrangements will be determined by 31st January 2026.

Thank you for feedback.
