Duke of Edinburgh Award

The school runs a highly successful Duke of Edinburgh Award programme for students in Years 10 and 11.

A DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. You just need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by.

You can do programmes at three levels, which when completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

You achieve your Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections – Volunteering, Physical, Skills and an Expedition.

You’ll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a training to make sure you achieve your goals.

The best bit is – you get to choose what you do!

Each year we give a parents and carers presentation to inform them of what is involved in the D of E.
If you’d like to find out more then browse the presentation below and if you have any questions then email jjackson1@hightunstall.hartlepool.sch.uk

You can also view the exploits of our previous students on the D of E section of Cross the UK (a website run by our staff with a section to evidence and share the D of E activities.
