High Tunstall’s Magnificent SEVEN!

U14 Town Cup Semi Final – High Tunstall 5 – 0 Dykehouse

After the other 6 High Tunstall teams had already booked their place at Victoria Park for the Hartlepool Schools Cup Finals, the pressure was on for our Under 14s who welcomed Dyke House to Elwick Road in some poor weather conditions.

Thankfully, our beautiful 3G pitch was in immaculate condition and provided that extra zip that suited the slick passing game of the hosts. After some intricate work, Martin won a penalty and coolly converted to settle any early nerves.

The lead was doubled through Martin once again who worked the ball onto his left foot before finishing well from the edge of the area.  The lead was maintained and a clean sheet was preserved throughout thanks to 3 excellent goalkeeping displays from Sings, Tubuna and Ward.

Into the second half and playing into a strong wind, it was important for High Tunstall to maintain the impetus gained in the first half and early nerves were settled through another great finish from hat-trick hero Martin.

Indebted to some excellent midfield pressing from trio Thompson, Hamilton and Whelam, a fourth came through the busy Barnes who pressed well to finish into an empty net. The scoring was completed through that man Barnes again who jinked his way to create an opening and finish confidently into the bottom corner.

The final whistle blew and history was made.  Never in the history of the HSFA has a school had a representative in every Town Cup Final but today, the under 14s replicated the hard work and commitment shown by all of our teams this season and are rewarded with a date at the Vic on Monday 9th May 2022.

Up the Tunny.
