Homework

The aim of Homework is to promote essential learning as part of good educational practice:

  • It reinforces classroom learning
  • It helps develop skills and attitudes needed for successful lifelong learning
  • It supports the development of independent learning skills including enquiry and investigation
  • It gives valuable experience of working to deadlines
  • It can involve parents/carers and other family members in the students’ work to their mutual benefit.

Synergy

Synergy is very easy to use software we use to record student homework (as well as achievements and behaviour).  It can be accessed using a web browser and downloaded on to your home screen if you wish.  Access codes are provided for parents meaning they can see all homework tasks set by teachers alongside all behaviour and rewards recorded.

CENTURY

CENTURY is the tried and tested intelligent intervention tool that combines learning science, AI and neuroscience that helps to:

  • Identify gaps
  • Address misconceptions
  • Support teacher interventions

Microsoft Teams:

We are delighted to be using Microsoft Teams, which allows for the easy setting of independent learning resources online. Teachers can set live and due dates, links to helpful resources, monitor when independent work has been submitted and mark at their convenience on a computer or tablet wherever they have an internet connection. Grades can be recorded in an online mark book and results can be easily shared with the class, colleagues or senior leadership team.

Students and staff are able to access the Microsoft Teams platform from any internet connected device using either a web browser or by downloading the Microsoft Teams application on their mobile device.

GCSEPod:

GCSEPod helps students reach their potential whilst building their confidence across a range of subjects.

Students can use GCSEPod to learn a new topic together or help them identify their weakest areas and fill their knowledge gaps.  The content on GCSEPod is already filtered by the college so students and parents can login with the peace of mind that what’s available will really make a difference to their progress.

At the heart of GCSEPod are the videos or as we call them ‘Pods’.  Each one is a highly concentrated, 3-5 minute burst of audio-visual learning and specialist subject knowledge for 20 curriculum areas. It’s written by expert subject teachers then rigorously quality assured. Narrated by professional voice over artists and with visuals produced by an award-winning design team, every Pod is mapped to GCSE and IGCSE exam boards.  GCSEPod are committed to keeping up with curriculum and technology changes.
