The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe!

On the 14th and 15th of November, over 50 students produced three performances of an adaptation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in the theatre at High Tunstall College of Science.

Rehearsals had taken place twice a week for 7 weeks to create a decidedly Brechtian production with the cast creating steam trains, sleighs, caves, forests, and wardrobe using only themselves.

The cast included students from Year 7 to Year 10, with Year 11 Creative Arts Academy (CAA) ambassadors helping to direct, tech and work backstage.  Year 8 students featured prominently as Lucy, Edmund and Susan, narrators, and other speaking roles.  The Witch and Mr Tumnus were played by Year 10 Drama students Iona and William, who really demonstrated their commitment to the role and showed off their acting skills effectively.

The overall production was enhanced by the props created by CAA Art students and Ms Lowe, whose creative mind went into overload to create the lamppost, goblets, wands, crowns, shields and many more amazing items.

We are so proud of all the students who took part and we know they and others (including parents) can’t wait for the announcement of the College Musical for July 2024 – but we will keep you guessing till then!
