Visite à Paris 2023

On 24th March 2023, a group of Year 10 students headed out to Paris, to experience Parisienne life and culture, and improve their French linguistic skills. After three years of not being able to experience such adventures, everyone was excited to travel again!

On day one we headed into central Paris and headed straight to the phenomenal “Tour Eiffel”. On the first floor, students enjoyed some delicious French crêpes and perused the gift shops. Some students then climbed to level two to see the panoramic views of the city of Paris. Following a picnic lunch in the parc below, we headed for the River Seine and boarded “Un Bateau Mouche” for a river cruise, during which we could view many of the famous Paris landmarks including Notre Dame, Le Musée D’Orsay, Le Palais de Congrès and many more.

In the afternoon we climbed l’ Arc de Triomphe, a famous war memorial, created by Napoleon I, featuring the tomb of the unknown solider. After ascending the spiral staircase we enjoyed fantastic views of Paris and Les Champs Elysées.

Later in the day we headed to Monmartre, and visited La Place du Tertre, a famous square in which famous artists have gathered for many years. Some students enjoyed having a portrait drawn as a souvenir. We then enjoyed a meal in a typical French restaurant called “Chez- Eugène” and some students developed their fondness of snails! We ended the day by visiting Sacré Coeur which was absolutely stunning in the night sky.

On the final day we visited Disneyland Paris. First all we went to Disney Studios where we enjoyed the many rides, such as the tower of tower along with numerous new rides. We then headed into the Magic Kingdom for more rides, treats and souvenirs, before returning back to the hotel for our final night.

We returned to Hartlepool the next night, having had a fantastic visit with fantastic memories and many students already dreaming of their return visit to this beautiful city.
